hiya folks,

ok so we're at 12% now which on a linear line basically still just
puts us on target *just* within the campaign's time limit, and
assuming the same numbers are pledged we'd be looking at 500 CPU
Cards, 275 microdesktops and 140 laptops. which is not bad at all.
we would juuust about be ok with that because some of the critical
components (the PCMCIA socket for example) are shared between the
microdesktop and laptop PCBs, and 500 computer cards is _great_, that
would make a factory comfortable to do those kinds of quantities.

... that's assuming that it doesn't go nuts over the next few weeks
and we hit 2500+ easily.

i need to write this up as an update #3 oh btw are people following these?

i plan to buy quite a few myself as money invents itself; is it necessary
to fund the project by effectively preordering or funding the programme or
is it enough to order when these items are ready to purchase

time for me to get around to pledging for a/that 2rd computer card i
meant to get. didn’t see/notice/click the update quantity button
originally. also i thought the comment box was posted publicly, didnt
realize that it was a private comment.

it's critically dependent on the preordering (aka pledges). the
pledges are required to cover the MOQ of (average) 250 units. only
once we've reached the $150k (or possibly just before then) will there
be the possibility to *not* need to put in a pledge before then.

if you're familiar with crowd-funding, the general idea is that
factories have to have a minimum order quantity (MOQ), and the
component prices are cheaper in bulk, as well as the assembly is
cheaper per unit.

plus, they want cash... up-front.

bottom line: we *need* to reach that target.... otherwise *nobody*
gets *anything*.
